Vincent Jones

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER • he/Him

Vincent Jones is a nonprofit Chief Executive Officer, social entrepreneur, and progressive strategist who operates at the intersection of philanthropy, politics, and movement building. Known as an innovative connector, he brings people, ideas, and resources together to strengthen institutions, mobilize capital, and build communities that drive lasting progressive change.

Vincent currently serves as Chief Executive Officer of Beyond Impact, a $96 million, multi-state 501(c)(4) progressive organization that leverages fiscal sponsorship, grantmaking, and convening to support progressive leaders and organizations. He leads a distributed team of 36 staff and works closely with senior leadership and the Board to set strategy, strengthen operations, and position the organization to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving political environment.

He stepped into the role during a period of significant financial and leadership transition and led a comprehensive effort to stabilize and strengthen the organization. Under his leadership, Beyond Impact improved financial management and governance, modernized internal systems, reduced staff turnover, as well as clarified its strategic direction and external positioning. He also strengthened and operationalized the organization’s pro-Black framework, ensuring it is clearly understood, effectively implemented, and aligned with evolving legal and political considerations.  Leading a unionized team, Vincent guided the organization through the successful negotiation and ratification of its second collective bargaining agreement, strengthening labor relations while maintaining operational continuity.

Vincent’s leadership is grounded in the belief that durable impact requires both strong institutions and engaged communities. He has focused on building the infrastructure, strategy, and relationships necessary to support long-term growth, including developing a comprehensive fundraising and business development strategy, building the team to execute it, and advancing approaches to donor engagement that expand participation beyond traditional philanthropic audiences.

In parallel, he has led proactive government relations and risk mitigation efforts, building the legal and communications capacity needed to navigate complex political challenges and protect the organization and its partners.

Prior to leading Beyond Impact, Vincent was the founder and CEO of Citizen Jones Consulting (formerly Reinvent Communications), where he led a diverse team that partnered with foundations, nonprofits, local governments, philanthropists, and federal partners—including the White House—to advance progressive change. The firm’s work focused on helping institutions engage constituencies to advance policy campaigns, mobilize resources to support grassroots leaders, and design programs that drive measurable impact. He built and led a team of full-time strategists and project-based consultants and ultimately stepped away from the practice to focus fully on leading Beyond Impact.

His career spans philanthropy, government, politics, and social entrepreneurship. At Liberty Hill Foundation, he helped guide the LGBTQ movement’s response following the passage of Proposition 8, ensuring that grassroots organizations—particularly those led by LGBTQ people of color—had a stronger voice in shaping the movement’s future. He also developed Uplifting Change, an initiative that mobilized Black donors and raised over $2 million to support social justice organizations, and co-created a groundbreaking effort to improve outcomes for boys and men of color. This work helped catalyze President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper initiative.  Vincent also informed similar efforts at major philanthropic institutions across California including the California Endowment and the California Community Foundation.

Vincent has also served in senior roles on multiple political campaigns, including for U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer, and held leadership roles advancing redistricting, criminal justice reform, and public health.

He is deeply committed to board service and has held leadership roles with organizations including Strategic Concepts in Organizing and Political Education or SCOPE (as Co-Chair), Tides Advocacy now Beyond Impact (as Board Chair), Freedom for All Americans, Lambda Legal, the American Red Cross of Southern California, and the Swarthmore College Board of Managers, among others. He is an active member of several philanthropic networks, including the Association of Black Foundation Executives (ABFE), Funders for LGBTQ Issues, Southern California Grantmakers, and Southern California Blacks in Philanthropy (where he served as Co-Chair).

Vincent is a graduate of Swarthmore College, where he was a Lang Scholar for Social Action. He has been recognized nationally for his leadership, including honors from The Advocate, Frontiers, and Out magazines, as well as the National LGBTQ Task Force, Grantmakers for Children, Youth & Families, and the City of Los Angeles, among others.

Vincent lives in West Hollywood.  He enjoys international travel and has traveled to over 80 countries and counting.  Vincent loves languages.  He speaks Spanish and is learning Portuguese.  He also loves live music and often can be found at concerts and music festivals.
